Margo Kim, born in 1997 in Moscow, Russia, and currently based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is a Russian-Korean multidisciplinary artist. Holding a first honors degree in Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and Urbanism, Margo has a diverse upbringing in rural Finland, historical Saint-Petersburg, and multiracial Dubai within a multi-cultural family, has deeply influenced her artistic perspective.
Margo has gained recognition on both national and international platforms. In 2021, her work “Verticalis” secured the esteemed second place in the “Photo of the Year” competition hosted by the Aarhus School of Architecture in Denmark. Her architectural diploma and thesis project was also published on the ‘Design Mate’ portal in the same year, showcasing her proficiency in the field of art of architecture. Afterwards Kim has decided to fully transition into the world of art as she was diving deeper into the world of psychology, philosophy and expression. Margo employs various mediums, including contemporary oil paintings, poetry, pottery, ceramics, film and photography, demonstrating her versatility and dedication to exploring the essence of humanity.
Kim’s artistic vision is centered around the exploration of human identity, social connections, and inner human world. She is best known for her large-scale paintings, executed in a modern symbolism and figurative style, and their connection with pottery and sculpture, which delve into the inner characters of her subjects. Her art resonates with themes of human identity, societal challenges, and the depth of human emotions. Through her work, she invites viewers to contemplate the intricacies of human existence. Margo showcases the connections between our inner worlds and the external environments we navigate within the social scene.
